The best psychologist

Ive heard it said that a puppy licking your face is the best psychologist.  How can you not love that, it cracks the stone of the coldest hearts.  Dogs have a way with humans, in a way we are intimate with them. They are the only animal that sleeps in the same bed with a human.  Why is that so?  They love us regardless of what we do, they forget that we havent been home all day and shake their butt and wag their tail when they see us again.  They just want to be loved back and, in a way, thats what we all want.
God loves in the same way, albeit on a different level, he just wants to be loved and he wants to love us.  He has given us many great tools to encounter him, these are called sacraments. God calls us to interact in a real way through these gifts.
I have a great joy today because my puppy (really my girlfriend's) lifted his leg to pee today for the first time.  Yea this might be silly but the older I get the more I realize it truly is about the little things in life.  I typically would have shrugged this off but Im making a big deal out of it because, well, why not.  I woke up, said prayers, went to work, ate lunch, went back to work, and went to class. Life is full of obligation and responsibility, why not take some joy in the little things because before you know the little things go by and never come back.  So rejoice in the little things tomorrow and have a puppy lick your face, or let em pee on your leg or something and smile about it.  Good night and God bless.

Here are the doggy 10 commandments, think about em, they make sense.

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.
